Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid featured in "Films On The Go"
The St. John's International Women's Film Festival is screening Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid in their "Films On The Go" series, which brings "the best docs, dramas and comedies from around the world" to Newfoundland communities. The series organizers call Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid a "gloriously spirited story" and a "brilliant tour de force." A list of screening dates and locales is noted on the right.

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid featured in Special Resolution to the Nova Scotia Legislative Assembly
On Tuesday, May 20 at approximately 6:00 pm, Angus MacIsaac, Minister for Gaelic Affairs, will move to adopt a resolution concerning Gaelic filmmaking in Nova Scotia:
"WHEREAS commencing Sunday, May 25th the Office of Gaelic Affairs is sponsoring a Gaelic film series, featuring great storytelling and breathtaking images from an exciting lineup of award-winning Gaelic films from Canada, Scotland and Ireland
AND
WHEREAS Gaelic-language filmmaking is beginning to flourish on both sides of the Atlantic
AND
WHEREAS the Assembly recognizes that a Nova Scotia produced and directed short Gaelic film, The Wake of Calum MacLeod, has created a great deal of enthusiasm in the Nova Scotia Gaelic community and speaks to the potential for further development of Nova Scotia Gaelic resources through the film industry
THEREFORE be it resolved that all members of this House, commend and congratulate all those involved in Gaelic language filmmaking here in Nova Scotia and make every effort to attend one of the Gaelic film series screenings scheduled over the next four weekends throughout the province"

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid in semi-finals on Short Film Face-Off
Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid has made it to the semi-finals on Short Film Face-Off, an exciting new six-part series from CBC Maritimes and the Atlantic Film Festival. Twelve short films have been narrowed down to four choices by the shows jury. Now CBC viewers make the final choice on which film will win. And whoever wins receives a major production deal from CBC! This is an exciting moment: not only is the first Gaelic film broadcasting on Canadian television, but it may lead to more films about this unique Canadian culture. And its all up to you! Tune in this Wednesday, May 14 at 7pm AST to see the four competing films and learn how you can vote by phone or on the internet. If you miss the show, visit www.aliant.net/faceoff to see the films and cast your vote online. Voting begins after the show airs, and ends on Monday, May 19th.

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid airs on Short Film Face-Off
Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid will be screening on Short Film Face-Off, an exciting new initiative from CBC Maritimes and the Atlantic Film Festival. Twelve short films and their directors will be featured on a six-part series on CBC Television. Those twelve films will compete and eventually be narrowed down to four finalists by a jury on the televised program. CBC viewers will then have the chance to vote on which of the four is their favourite film. Whoever wins the most votes will receive a major production deal from the CBC. Tune in this Wednesday, April 23 at 7pm AST to see if Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid makes it on to the final round!

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid World Broadcast Premiere
Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid will make its world broadcast premiere February 29th at 7:30pm EST on 'Bravo!FACT Presents' on Bravo! The Spoke Club in Toronto (600 King Street West, 4th floor) will be hosting a 'live' broadcast of the half-hour show in their lower level screening room, and filmmakers Marc Almon and Nona MacDermid will be in attendance. Pilsner Urquell will be providing complementary beer at the event.

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid nominated for a Genie Award!
Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid has been nominated by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television as Best Live Action Short Film! Academy members will be voting on whether to award Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid or the four other distinguished short films the trophy between now and February 22nd. Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid screens at St. John's International Women's Film Festival
Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid is returning to St. John's, Newfoundland. Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid's inclusion in this year's International Women's Festival is a significant recognition of Producer Nona MacDermid's critical role in bringing North America's first Gaelic-language short film to the screen. The Festival runs from October 16 - 20th, 2007.

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid is set to make its European premiere in the Highlands of Scotland! Invited to the Inverness Film Festival, Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid will screen in a region renowned for its support of Gaelic language and culture. The festival dates are November 15 - 18, 2007.

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid screens in three U.S. festivals
Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid has been accepted to the prestigious Austin Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Austin Film Festival prides itself on showcasing films that 'honor the craft of storytelling' and runs from October 11 - 18, 2007. Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid is also screening at the Taos Mountain Film Festival in Taos, New Mexico. The Taos Mountain Film Festival celebrates films that profile mountain environments and cultures, and calls Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid a "mesmeric tale with a dramatic flourish". The festival runs from October 5 - 7, 2007. And Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid has also been selected to screen at the Asheville Film Festival in Asheville, North Carolina, taking place from November 8 - 11, 2007. Asheville is a beautiful town located in an area settled by large numbers of Scottish Highlanders.

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid premieres in U.S.
Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid makes its U.S. premiere at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in Providence, Rhode Island, New England's largest film festival. The event screens 250 films over the course of six days, August 7 - 12, 2007. Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid has also been selected to screen as part of the RIIFF "Best of the Fest" arts fundraiser hosted by the Courthouse Center for the Arts in West Kingston, Rhode Island.

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid has been accepted into the Worldwide Short Film Festival in Toronto, Ontario. The festival is one of the worlds largest short film festivals and markets, and runs from June 12 to June 17, 2007.

Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid Nominated for Best Drama
Faire Chaluim Mhic Leņid is nominated for the Golden Sheaf Award for Best Drama at the Yorkton Film & Video Festival! The festival, based in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, is North Americas oldest. Short and medium length Canadian films and videos are screening between May 24 to May 27, 2007 for the 60th edition of the festival.
